The 15thNational College Student Information Security Contest held thefinal of its works competition in Changsha between August 19 and 22. It was hosted by theChina Internet Development Foundation,National Cyber Security Talent and Innovation Base, and Changsha Municipal People’s Government, and organized by Hunan University. The teams sent by the Modern Engineering Training Center and the College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering of HNU won two first prizes, one second prize, and one third prize.
The National College Student Information Security Contest is a national A-class contest, and also the most influential information security competition for college students. It has been held for 14 sessions, undertaken by the universities with high reputation in the field of cyber security. Totally 840 teams of 2,692 teachers and students from 191 domestic universities participated in this session, of which 310 teams qualified for the final round. The final was held in Changsha and Hangzhou, adopting offline expert review and online presentation and demonstration by participants. Finally, 40 works stood out for first prizes, 61 for second prizes, and 79 for third prizes.
HNU started enrollment of the information security major in 2002. The major was certificated by the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association in 2018, and approved to be anational first-class undergraduate major in 2021. In the same year, HNU was authorized to be the first non-military university in Hunan Province to grant doctor’s degree in first-level discipline of cyberspace security.
