The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology announced the results of the 2018 evaluation of the state key laboratories for engineering and materials science on March 27, 2019. HNU's State Key Laboratory of Advanced Design and Manufacturing for Vehicle Body passed the evaluation.

In accordance with theMeasures for the Construction,Operation and Management of State Key Laboratories, andRegulations for Evaluating State Key Laboratories, the Intelligent Manufacturing Alliance of CAST Member Societies (IMAC), entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, carried out a comprehensive evaluation 2014-2018 for 43 state key engineering laboratories' operation and management.
