Changsha, Hunan – Huawei, leaders in Information and Communications Technology ICT, Enterprise Solutions, Consumer Devices and Carrier Network, announced today a series of initiatives to support young talents in technology in concert with International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2017 (two days later).


Prof. Luo Juan (left) is the representative of Hunan University, a 985 & 211 university that has partnered with HUAWEI to create the HNU-HUAWEI ICT College Co-op Center Signing Conference for creative talents in Tech. Hunan University is one of the 12 key universities joined the co-op program.


The College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at Hunan University has partnered with HUAWEI to create the HUAWEI ICT talent program for creative talents in Tech. This program will support Hunan University students in computer science and electronic engineering to attend ICT technology college across across the great China area, including the ICT technology product knowledge and the HUAWEI professional certifications in Computing. At the meeting, our Dean Prof. Li Renfa was appointed as the one of the Committee experts of the HUAWEI Institute for information and networking.

HUAWEI Information & Communications Technology ICT College for students in Tech

The company has partnered with Hunan University to create a ICT college for students in the College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering to attend technology college across the great China area. HUAWEI will provide grant for this program over the course of three years, covering the costs of both travel and admission to events including the Eco Partners Conference, Changsha Start Up Week, Chinese Celebration of Students in Computing, and more.

"Improving creative talents diversity in computer science and double E is a priority for our school,” said Prof. Li Renfa, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at Hunan University. “As one of the top computer science departments in China, we are committed to supporting students in technology and providing a comprehensive learning environment. This program allows more of our young students to attend conferences and meetings—a valuable opportunity for networking and professional development—to meet leading professional in the field and discover where a career in technology can take them."

Inclusive Hiring Practices

As part of its dedication to an environment that accommodates numeracy talents, the company offers specific programs for individuals from partner schools.


Investment in Future Digital Change Leaders

Last year, HUAWEI provided an Emerging Leaders Development Program to its employees, offering coursework to help transition from an individual contributor to leadership role. Topics covered as part of this initiative included leadership principles, personal development, personal communication, performance, feedback, and motivating teams.


The company also hosts workshops aimed at teaching young students how to code, offered competition like the Code Craft and in partnership with organizations such as Zhejiang Unviersity, and Beihang University and many more.
