Position Summary:
Subject to budget approval, the Institute of Finance at the Center for
Economics,Finance and Management Studies (CEFMS) at Hunan University (China) seeks tohire multiple fulltime, tenure track faculty members at assistantprofessor level,to beginin the fall semester of 2015. Applicants with research interests in anyfinance field are invited to apply. Duties will include teaching graduate coursesin finance areas such as corporate risk management, management of financialinstitutions, investments, corporate finance, derivatives securities, fixed income securities, and etc., advising graduate students in their thesis work, engaging inresearch leading to publications in the SSCI journals of the field, and taking partin services and professional development activities. Minimum qualifications:Ph.D. in finance or closely related fields. Candidates near completion of thedoctorate will be considered. Compensation is competitive and includes researchsupport and a housing subsidy. All courses are taught in English. We will conduct interviews at the 2015 AFA meeting in Boston. About the CEFMS:The CEFMS was founded in 2013 by Hunan University as aninternational platform for research and education in economics, finance, andmanagement disciplines. The goal of the center is to reach 40 to 50 full-time faculty,10 to 20 special-term, part-time faculty, 30 to 80 PhD students, and 200 to 300master level students. The master of finance program has started since fall 2013.The university has given full support to the growth of the center, including newlyrenovated offices and designated classrooms.
Selected by the board of Asian Finance Association, CEFMS at Hunan Universitywill host the Asian Finance Association 2015 annual meeting in Changsha, China.Distinguished scholars including a Nobel Laureate will deliver keynote speeches atthe meeting. About two to three hundred scholars and practitioners from around theworld will meet and share their research output at the annual meeting in Changshanext summer. As the center of Huxiang Culture, Changsha hasbeen named China's "excellent tourist city." Changsha has relatively inexpensivereal estate price compared to other major cities in China. The city is located on thehigh-speed train line from Beijing to Shenzhen and its newly constructed Huanghua international airport offers easy connections with major international destinations.
